Fauci the Scientist or Fauci the Politician? Who to Believe?

When Robert Gallo – working under Anthony Fauci at US National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) – announced that HIV was the cause of AIDS one critical scientist, Peter Duesberg, called this “science by press conference,” as the science was not done: there was no peer-reviewed published scientific evidence, and no electron microscope analyses.

Etienne de Harven, MD, the scientist who produced the first electron micrograph of a retrovirus has said, “The fact that after 25 years of intense research HIV has been neither isolated nor purified in terms of classical virology indicates to us that the infectious view of AIDS as a contagious viral disease is based on an apparently non-existent microbe!” Fauci was Director of the NIAID which, as a result of the discovery, received millions in research funds to study the new virus.

Fauci’s one-time associate Dr. Judy Mikovits is the author of Plague of Corruption: Restoring Faith in the Promise of Science. Her criticism of Fauci dates back to the earliest days of HIV research. She also characterizes what Fauci says about Covid-19 as “absolute propaganda.”

Fauci supported the vaccine for H1N1 in 2009. It was a multi-billion dollar program and it was subsequently revealed that the vaccine, Pandemrix, can cause narcolepsy and cataplexy as well as brain damage.

Fauci has been reticent to join many other doctors, and some recent research, in supporting Hydroxychloroquine, a drug approved decades ago, as a treatment. HCQ costs less than a dollar a pill. On the other hand, Fauci has promoted the use of Remdisivir, which can cost thousands of dollars.

Fauci has called the shots with regards to coronavirus policy in the US. He relied on the faulty Imperial College computer model, predicting as many as 2.2 million deaths in the US, as the basis of the lockdown. That model is now shown to be off by a factor of about 20, even when accepting the questionable count from the CDC. Fauci merely shrugged this off by saying that you can’t rely on computer models. Too bad he didn’t figure that out a few months sooner.

Fauci is said to be a scientist but where is the science in all this? The scientific method – hypothesis, experimentation and results – could easily be applied. Take blood samples from a group of sick people and from a control group of healthy people. Then analyze the blood. The virus should then be found in the samples of the sick patients and not in the samples of the healthy patients. Has that been done? Why have we traded-in the scientific method for science by press conference?

Interestingly, Fauci published an article about the coronavirus in the New England Journal of Medicine in which he says that, “This suggests that the overall clinical consequences of Covid-19 may ultimately be more akin to those of a severe seasonal influenza …”

Fauci the scientist and Fauci the politican clearly don’t agree with one another. Fauci the scientist says it is just a bad flu season. Fauci the politican says there will be an unprecedented number of deaths and we need new (and expensive) treatments and vaccines to address it. Which Fauci do you believe?
