The president of Malawi ordered a lock down. The people fought back and the high court reversed the President’s orders. So, in a country without a lock down we should find a lot of people dead from Covid-19. According to data from the WHO only 181 people are dead in Malawi from Covid-19, as of 10/19/2020.
You’ll find similarly low numbers of Covid deaths throughout Africa with the exception of South Africa. South Africa has 18,408 deaths from Covid, a factor of about 100 more than Malawi’s 181 deaths. Malawi’s population is about 19 million. South Africa’s population is about 59 million. So, by accounting for the differences in population, you find that South Africa has a Covid death rate about 30 times greater than that of Malawi. Yet Malawi didn’t even lock down. According to the experts it should be the other way around – Malawi should be devastated by Covid. But it’s not.
South Africa’s neighbor Tanzania has an even smaller death toll: 21. After doing the math to account for population size, we find that South Africa has 333 times as many people dying from Covid per capita as Tanzania? Wow!
Admittedly, Tanzania is an outlier. The President told the world months ago about the Covid testing scam. He had a variety of made-up samples sent in for testing, including a “paw-paw” (papaya) that tested positive!
Still, with the exception of South Africa, Covid is not causing many deaths in Africa.
Why is South Africa an exception? South Africa is a largely English-speaking country that probably has closer ties with the the international health bureaucracies and therefor could be taking a “very liberal approach to mortality,” as Dr. Deborah Birx described the approach taken in the USA. If so, then in South Africa, as in the USA, if there is any way that a death can be attributed to Covid, it will be. To put it bluntly, the number of deaths attributed to Covid in South Africa may have more to to do with bureaucrats than it does to a virus.
(South Africa is also one of the more technologically-advanced countries in Africa, so, if the deaths are really higher in South Africa, the possibility of new technology rollout, such as 5G, should be explored as an explanation.)
Why is the rest of Africa not following the script? Other African countries are probably leaning heavily toward Covid skepticism – some might call it “Covid-denialism” – given the fallout from various vaccination programs.
There is a lot of speculation here, but you have a whole continent – with the exception of South Africa – that doesn’t fit the narrative and people should be asking why that is.
Supporting Math:
Tanzania Covid death rate: 21 deaths / 22,000,000 people = 0.0000009
South Africa death rate: 18,408 deaths / 59,000,000 people = 0.0003
Relative death rate of South Africa vs. Tanzania: 0.0003 / 0.0000009 = 333
Relative death rate of USA vs. Tanzania: 200,000 USA deaths / 350,000,000 people = 0.00057 ; 0.00057 / 0.0000009 = 633
